The mobile OS market is divided between iOS and Android
Analysts Kantar Worldpanel ComTech summarized the statistical data, allowing to judge the prevalence of this or that mobile OS. According to analysts, the days when the presence of BlackBerry OS, Symbian and Windows Mobile somehow affected the market, remained in the past. The market is divided between iOS and Android. And in different regions the shares of these operating systems vary. So, in the largest smartphone market, Chinese, the share of Android at the beginning of the year reached 83.2%, iOS - 16.6% (only smartphones sold in three months, not all smartphones in use are considered).
In Europe (analysts are limited to the data of the five largest markets - the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain), the share of Android is 74.3%, iOS - 22.7%. In the US, the share of Android is 56.4%, the share of iOS is 42%.
Interestingly, Japan has become the only region where the share of iOS, albeit slightly, but more than the share of Android - 49.5% against 49.0%.
